EMILY’s List Endorses Eight Women Leaders for California State and Local Offices

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed eight women leaders for the California state legislature and local public offices. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILY’s List, released the following statement:

“EMILY’s List is excited to endorse eight fearless leaders for state and local office in California. In a state known for paving the way for progress, we are proud to stand with these trailblazers, who continue to advocate for innovative solutions to the problems facing California. They are experienced community organizers, activists, and public servants who will fight for California’s marginalized communities. Their voices represent the diversity of the Golden State, and we are thrilled to stand with them.”

EMILY’s List endorsed the following women:
Ann Ravel (SD-15)
Abigail Medina (SD-23)
Kathy Miller (AD-13)
Mai Vang (Sacramento City Council, District 8)
Marni Von Wilpert (San Diego City Council, District 5)
Holly Mitchell (Los Angeles County Supervisor)
Nora Vargas (San Diego County Supervisor, District 1)
Rhodesia Ransom (San Joaquin County Supervisor, District 5)

These endorsements are in addition to 12 women EMILY’s List has already endorsed in California: Monique Limón (SD-19), Rebecca Bauer-Kahan (AD-16), Dawn Addis (AD-35), Jacqui Irwin (AD-44), Eloise Gómez Reyes (AD-47), Sabrina Cervantes (AD-60), Sharon Quirk-Silva (AD-65), Melissa Fox (AD-68), Diedre Thu-Ha Nguyen (AD-72), Cottie Petrie-Norris (AD-74), Tasha Boerner Horvath (AD-76), and Mara Elliott (San Diego City Attorney).

EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY’s List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 150 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,100 women to state and local office. Nearly 40 percent of the candidates EMILY’s List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. During the historic 2017-2018 cycle, EMILY’s List raised a record-breaking $110 million and launched a record independent expenditure campaign. We helped elect 34 new women to the House, including 24 red-to-blue victories; enough seats to have delivered the U.S. House majority alone. Since the 2016 election, more than 50,000 women have reached out to EMILY’s List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state, and national offices.
